說明:

Flow cytometry has long been a cornerstone technique in cell biology, allowing for the quantitative analysis of cell populations based on specific biological markers. Traditionally, flow cytometry provides robust data regarding cell size, granularity, and fluorescence intensity with high throughput. However, it often lacks the spatial context of cellular morphology and complex structural features. Recent advancements in imaging technology have enabled the integration of imaging capabilities with traditional flow cytometry, creating a powerful hybrid approach for both analysis and sorting applications.

This augmentation allows for the simultaneous acquisition of quantitative and qualitative data, enhancing the interpretation of cellular characteristics. By employing imaging flow cytometry, one can visualize individual cells in a flow system, capturing detailed morphologic information alongside traditional metrics. This integration facilitates the study of cellular interactions, subcellular localization of proteins, and alterations in cellular architecture in response to various stimuli and with sorting one can obtain the transcriptome from a single cell based on spatial location of protein within a given cell.

The convergence of flow cytometry and imaging not only enhances analytical capabilities but also propels us toward a more comprehensive understanding of complex biological systems. As this field continues to evolve, it promises to redefine cell analysis methodologies and strengthen the bridge between quantitative data and qualitative imaging in biomedical research.
